WALDORF, Md. (AP) - A pedestrian in a wheelchair was struck by a car while trying to cross the street in Charles County.
The sheriff's office says the hit-and-run happened late Saturday night in Waldorf, at the intersection of St. Charles Parkway and St. Thomas Drive.
The driver in the hit and run has been identified as a 28-year-old woman from Waldorf. Police determined that the car was a 2000 white Ford Windstar van, which helped police identify the woman, officials said.
Authorities say a 34-year-old Waldorf man in a wheelchair was trying to cross the parkway when a car struck him. The driver then drove away. The man was taken to the Prince George's Hospital Center, where he's believed to be stable.
The investigation remains ongoing. Charges against the driver are pending.
