WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Customers braved the heavy rain to attend a hearing down at the D.C. Public Service Commission.
They came to tell commission members how some alternative energy providers "slammed" them.
It happened to D.C. resident Norma Ortiz.
Yesterday, only on WUSA 9, she told how Starion Energy switched her service from PEPCO without her knowledge or consent. And after the change her utility bills tripled.
Ms. Oritz, the Legal Counsel for the Elderly and others asked the PSC to do more to regulate these businesses to keep this from happening to customers.
A check with the Better Business Bureau found Starion Energy has 150 complaints and an "F" rating.
Since our story aired, the BBB has placed an alert for consumers on its website for Starion Energy.
