WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- In addition to a foggy morning that may be contributing to some traffic issues, we're seeing reports of trees down in the area.
One tree fell, blocking Beach Drive at Blagden Avenue early Thursday morning. A crew removed the tree around 6:30 a.m.
D.C. police said that a tree fell at 42nd and River Road, blocking both directions. They were first told about the tree at 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. A Pepco spokesperson told us late Wednesday night that at one point 1200 customers were without power, after a large tree fell and took out lines and four transformers along River Road near the DC - Montgomery County line.
At 6 a.m. Thursday, Pepco crews were still on the scene trying to restore power to customers. A Twitter follower sent us a photo from the scene showing crews still working to remove the tree (see attached). The DC Department Of Homeland Security/Emergency Management says there is no estimate time when the scene will be cleared.
