WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Authorities responded to a home at 1 Hartley Place in Gaithersburg, Md. Thursday morning after a reported bear sighting.
The juvenile bear was estimated to weigh around one hundred pounds and ate from a bird feeder on the deck of Cathy and Bill Garner's home. Bill Garner snapped the photos of the bear.
The bear reportedly arrived at 8:45 A.M. and ate for about half an hour before leaving. Even though the bear was not aggressive officials advise that people should not attempt to chase, come close to, or attempt to feed any bear at any time.
There were also multiple reports of bear sightings in Gaithersburg on Wednesday.
Maryland Department Of Natural Resources officials advise Gaithersburg residents to remove birdfeeders and trash so the bear will leave the area.
