LAUREL, Md. (WUSA9) -- A 16-year-old boy is being charged as an adult for shooting at an on-duty police officer with a BB gun, Prince George's County Police say.
On Friday, at about 6:00 p.m. the officer was patrolling Laurel in his marked cruiser when he heard a projectile hit the driver's side door, just under the window, police said.
According to police, the officer thought he was being shot at and requested back up to search the area. Shortly after, police officers stopped Andre Christopher Rivers near Edinburgh Lane and Contee Road.
Officers recovered a BB gun from the teen and he was taken into custody, police said.
Rivers is being charged as an adult with first degree assault and related charges. He is being held on a $75,000 bond.
