WCAC Championships Set

WASHINGTON (WUSA 9) -- It's been an exciting postseason in the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC). 

Tuesday night at American University's Bender Arena, Good Counsel (25-4) and St. John's (29-1) will face off in the girls' championship at 6:00 p.m. When the teams played each other in January, the Falcons defeated the Cadets, 70-60. 

Players to watch include St. John's guard Lindsay Allen and Good Counsel forward Amanda Fioravanti.

The boys' game tips off at 8:00 p.m. and will feature Bishop O'Connell (24-6) and St. John's (20-9). In the quarterfinals, St. John's upset DeMatha, 57-55, with a half-court buzzer beater from forward Darian Bryant. Check out the video below captured by Josh Johnson of DC Sports Fan.

 

The Cadets went on to defeat Ireton, 56-44, in the semifinals. O'Connell topped Paul VI, 58-56, in double overtime Sunday to make it to the championship.

Players to watch include O'Connell guard Melo Trimble and forward Junior Etou and St. John's guards Tre Campbell and Darian Bryant.
