Laramie, WY (Sports Network) - Leonard Washington tallied a double-double with
14 points and 13 rebounds as the Wyoming Cowboys overcame a 14-point second-
half deficit to take down the Fresno State Bulldogs in overtime, 55-51, in
Mountain West Conference action at Arena Auditorium.
Derrious Gilmore scored 12 points and Nathan Sobey chipped in 10 points off
the bench for Wyoming (18-7, 4-7 MWC), which has won back-to-back games.
Kevin Foster netted 14 points, Tyler Johnson had 13 points, and both players
grabbed seven rebounds for Fresno State (8-16, 2-9), which has lost six of
seven.
Fresno State outshot Wyoming from the field in the first half, 48.1 percent to
36.4 percent, as it took a 31-21 lead into intermission.
The Bulldogs still led by eight with 3:24 left in regulation, but the Cowboys
made their run with an 8-0 spurt to tie the game. Gilmore stepped to the foul
line with nine seconds left down by one, but he made just 1-of-2 and the game
went to overtime.
Wyoming took the lead early in the extra session on a Washington free throw,
and it was able to seal its fate by shooting 3-of-4 from the stripe in the
final 11 seconds.
Wyoming shot just 51.5 percent from the free-throw line on the afternoon, but
it still outscored Fresno State from the stripe, 17-5.
