OXON HILL, Md. (WUSA) -- A church was severely damaged after it went up in flames early on New Year's Day.
Prince George's Co. firefighters were called out to First Wesleyan Church of Oxon Hill located at 1801 Iverson Street at about 7:30 a.m. after reports of fire.
When firefighters arrived they found heavy fire in two interior areas of the one-story building that extend towards the roof area, officials said.
It took approximately 25 minutes to contain the two-alarm fire that caused an estimated $100,00 in damages, officials said.
The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
