Logan, UT (Sports Network) - Chuckie Keeton threw all four of his touchdown
passes in the first half as Utah State rolled to a 38-7 win over Texas State
in Western Athletic Conference play at Romney Stadium,
Keeton racked up 316 yards passing on 20-of-276 passing and was also
intercepted twice for Utah State (8-2, 4-0 WAC). Keeton had 48 yards rushing
and a touchdown while Kerwynn Williams rushed for 190 yards on 19 attempts
but did not score. Matt Austin brought in four passes for 124 yards and a
touchdown. This is the first time Utah State has been 4-0 in league play
since 2000.
Shaun Rutherford managed only 71 yards passing while completing 8-of-15
attempts for Texas State (3-5, 1-2). Marcus curry rushed for a team-high 46
yards and a touchdown.
The Aggies got on the scoreboard first when Keeton completed a four-yard
touchdown pass to Travis Reynolds.
Keeton threw a two-yard touchdown pass to Kellen Bartlett later in the first
quarter to push the Aggies to a 14-0 lead.
In the second quarter Keeton got in the end zone himself on a three-yard
touchdown run.
Utah State kept pouring it on in the first half when Keeton connected with
Bruce Natson for a 23-yard touchdown pass.
Keeton threw his fourth touchdown pass of the first half, a four-yard strike
to Austin, with less than a minute before the half.
Texas State finally got on the scoreboard early in the third quarter on a
three-yard touchdown run from Curry.
Nick Diaz's 48-yard field goal midway through the third quarter would account
for the final score of the game.
Utah State totaled 593 yards of total offense while limiting Texas State to
just 158 total yards.
