DeKalb, IL (Sports Network) - Jordan Lynch was spectacular, passing for 191
yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 157 yards and a touchdown, as he
led the Northern Illinois Huskies to a 63-0 Mid-American Conference demolition
of the Massachusetts Minutemen at Huskies Stadium
The Huskies (9-1, 6-0 MAC) won their 20th consecutive home game, and did so
convincingly. Lynch was 15-of-19 in the air and did all his rushing on 15
attempts. Lynch was subbed out midway through the third quarter and Matt
McIntosh took his place. McIntosh was 4-of-6 for 43 yards and one touchdown.
While Lynch led the Huskies in rushing, Akeem Daniels had a rushing score
while both McIntosh and Keith Harris Jr. each had a pair of rushing scores.
Daniels, Martel Moore, and Angelo Sebastiano each had a receiving touchdown.
Tommylee Lewis caught six balls for 86 yards and Juwan Bresacin caught four
balls for 82 yards but neither scored.
The Minutemen (0-9, 0-5 Mid-American Conference) are still in search for their
first win of the season. They turned the ball over three times and were unable
to score a single point against the Huskies.
Mike Wegzyn was 16-of-28 for 137 yards and no touchdowns while Michael Cox
rushed for 81 yards on 25 attempts without a score. Rob Blanchflower had four
receptions for 55 yards.
Northern Illinois got things going early leading 14-0 at the end of the first
quarter after Lynch hit Moore for a nine-yard touchdown pass and Harris ran in
a score from one yard out.
The Huskie offense kept it going in the second quarter as Lynch threw a
17-yard touchdown pass to Daniels as well as taking in a 57-yard run for a
touchdown. The Northern Illinois lead kept growing with Harris scoring his
second touchdown of the day on a two-yard run to finish off an eight-play,
80-yard drive. Northern Illinois led 35-0 at the half.
The Huskies continued their destruction of Massachusetts in the second half
starting off with an 11-play, 75-yard drive that ended in a 17-yard touchdown
run by Daniels.
With the Huskies leading by so much, Lynch was taken out and McIntosh came in
to relieve him. McIntosh ran for a one-yard touchdown, threw a six-yard
touchdown pass to Sebastiano, and then ran for a seven-yard touchdown as
Northern Illinois won 63-0.
Northern Illinois racked up 610 yards of total offense to just 267 by the
UMass.
