  • UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (WUSA) -- Testimony in the trial of two Prince George's County Police officers could wrap up later Thursday. Shortly before 12:30 p.m. the defense rested and prosecution was set to start calling witnesses.

They are accused of beating a student they were taking into custody in March 2010 during the postgame celebration of a Maryland basketball victory over Duke. The incident was caught on tape.

The most serious charged against Reginald Baker and James Harrison, first degree assault, was dropped on Wednesday.

The judge said there was not enough evidence to support a first degree assault charge. Both men are still charged with second degree assault and misconduct in office.
