SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA) -  An elderly woman was injured in a hit-and-run accident on Wednesday evening, according to Montgomery County Police. The accident took place at University Blvd. and East Wayne Ave.

Five vehicles were reportedly involved, and at least one other person was injured, according to a spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire Dept. The condition and information about the other person are not known.

The hit-and-run vehicle is a black pickup truck that fled the scene, police said. The victim is an elderly Asian woman who was taken to a local trauma center with head injuries. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to authorities.

She was apparently crossing the street and not in a crosswalk when she was struck.
