Curtis Lopez (Montgomery County Police Department)
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) - A man charged with killing his estranged wife and her 11-year-old son is back in a Maryland courtroom.
Curtis Lopez is charged with killing Jane McQuain in her Germantown apartment last year and with fatally bludgeoning her son, William, with a baseball bat.
Lopez was arrested after fleeing to Charlotte, N.C.
Defense lawyers are trying to suppress the search of a bag of clothes that Lopez left with an acquaintance in North Carolina. Montgomery County Circuit Judge Mary Beth McCormick said Tuesday that Lopez had legal standing to challenge the search.
