LA PLATA, Md. (WUSA) -- Charles County authorities say a student is charged after a knife was found in his backpack on Wednesday.

According to authorities, at approximately 9:40 a.m., school administrators at La Plata High School were told that a student possibly had a knife. 

Later, a knife was found in the student's book bag, say authorities.

The teen was charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds. He was released to his parents.
