FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA) -- A five-car collision left one person with critical injuries and hurt three others, police said.

On Tuesday at about 7:51 a.m. police responded to the scene at the intersection of North McCain Drive and West Patrick Street. The investigation showed that a pick-up truck was driving westbound on West Patrick Street when it hit a silver Honda that was making a left turn onto West Patrick from North McCain Drive. On impact, the pick-up traveled across the median and went through pedestrian fence. It then hit two cars that were stopped at the red light on West Patrick Street. Meanwhile, the Honda continued traveling westbound on West Patrick, passed through another section of the pedestrian fence and collided with another car.

Officers say all five cars were in the east bound lanes of West Patrick Street and a total of three people were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Honda was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injures but is now in stable condition.

The names of those involved in the accident have not yet been released.
