MOUNT VERNON, Va. (WUSA) -- Firefighters responded to a two-alarm apartment fire on Saturday morning in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County, Va.
Officials say it took 20 minutes to confine the large flames and heavy smoke that were coming from the top floor of a three-story apartment located at 7947 Richmond Highway in Va.
There were no injuries, but seventeen people were evacuated during the fire and two adults and one child were displaced, officials say.
According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental and was caused by a halogen lamp that was too close to combustibles.
