WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Today is "No Text On Board - Pledge Day," according to a proclamation from DC Mayor Vincent Gray. It was written to urge teens not to text while driving.
Gray said in a press released Wednesday, "Today's proclamation notes that texting takes one's eyes off the road for an average of five seconds and that those who send text messages while driving are 23 times more likely to be involved in an automobile accident than those who do not text while driving - sometimes with tragic results. I encourage all young people in the District to pledge to avoid this dangerous practice."
