SPRINGFIELD, Va. (WUSA) - A brown tabby from Springfield is giving the other Senate candidates a real run for their money. The Hank For Senate campaign is busy running on the important platform of raising money for local animal welfare organizations.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is one of the beneficiaries of one Hank's upcoming events.
This Saturday, Sept. 22, Hank will receive a celebrity endorsement from NY Times best-selling author Gwen Cooper, author of the wonderful cat saga "Homer's Odyssey: A Fearless Feline's Tale." Hank and Gwen, who will sign copies of Homer's story, have teamed up, offering a book at a special price with 100% of the profits donated to animal welfare groups.
And in Hank's spirit of political cooperation, he's reaching out to fellow candidates: George Allen and Tim Kaine have also been invited to appear.
You can meet Hank (and maybe George and Tim) this Saturday from 11 a.m. till 3:30 p.m. at the Felix And Oscar pet food store in Springfield, Va.
For AWLA, besides receiving the benefits from Hank's Saturday appearance by Hank, there's an added bonus: all the profits from the Hank for Senate yard signs also go to the AWLA. You can purchase them online and let the world know who's got your vote.
