GAINESVILLE, Va. (AP) - Police have released the identity of two fatal accidents that took place over the weekend in Prince William County.
The first occurred shortly before 6 a.m. Sunday on Lee Highway in Gainesville. Police say the driver of a 2008 Acura TL was traveling northbound on Lee Hwy near Old Carolina Rd when a pedestrian crossed in front of his vehicle. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Damien Charles Banks, was transported to a hospital were he died.
Officials say speed was not a factor in this incident. The driver stayed at the scene until police arrived.
Shortly after 6:30 a.m. in Brentsville, a motorcyclist lost control and struck a tree. The man, identified as 56-year-old Randy Allen Lane, died at the scene.
Officials believe the crash took place overnight.
