TYSONS CORNER, Va. (WUSA) -- How are residents in Northern Virginia coping with the outages on Sunday evening?

A lot of people spent the weekend at shopping malls to escape the heat.  It was packed at Tysons Corner Mall on Sunday afternoon. People were charging their phones and other electronics.

The Ngheim family found a spot on the floor in front of Macy's.

John Ngheim told us, "I've been here 8 hours. I couldn't sleep last night."

It's precious real estate two days after the storm in the sweltering heat and no electricity.

Jasmine Qian is passing the time watching Chinese movies while she charges her cell phone and her husband's razor.

"He feels sticky, not comfortable. I may only have one more hour," said Qian.

Other folks are suffering through the heat. More than 300 units at a Falls Church apartment complex are in the dark.

Kelvin Johnson needs power to run his sleep machine: "This is very important. I need it to because I stop breathing in my sleep."

Kelvin will have a much better sleep Sunday night. By the time Sunday night's 6:30 newscast went on, Kelvin got his power back on.
