BOWIE, Md. (WUSA) -- Remember how you used to shop? Circular, check. Handwritten grocery list, check. Well - Safeway believes it has an easier way to help you save when you work the aisles.

"We're now creating a digital platform where customers can take coupons online and get personalized deals themselves, and frankly save a great deal of money on top of the club card deals that we already offer," says Craig Muckle, of Safeway Inc.'s Eastern Division.

The digital savings program is called "Just for U."

To get started, you register your club card online. And, access deals there. Plus, a mobile app for iPhone and Android users help you track your deals on the go.

The program has a weekly ads feature, that has all of Safeway's Club Card deals. A coupon center with the ads from the Washington Post loaded for each week. And, a personalized deals section that sends deals tailored to how you shop. Thus, the "Just for U" tagline.

Anchor Lesli Foster tried out the app and found it pretty easy to use. On it's first day - shoppers at the Bowie, Maryland store she visited agreed.

The one thing you should pay attention to is the exact product for the deal. It might issue a particular brand, but you may need to click on a button for more details to find out the exact type of the brand. One example was the Betty Crocker Traditional Brownie deal tailored just to Lesli, was actually on the shelf labeled as Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies.

When she finished with her short shopping trip - Lesli saved 11% on her grocery bill.
