WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) -- Sunday was one of the hottest days so far this year. A Code Orange alert was also issued, meaning it could be unhealthy for sensitive groups.

That meant it could be hazardous for the thousands who headed outdoors to large events such as the Gay Pride Festival and Celebrate Fairfax.

First aid tents and cooling centers were stationed throughout the festival grounds.

At Gay Pride, there were cooling buses people took advantage of. Fire trucks sprayed water, and paramedics and first aid responders were standing by.
