TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (WUSA) - Prince George's County Police say they may have recovered the murder weapon in a shooting at the Southern Ave. Metro Station Tuesday night. Spokesperson Julie Parker says that ballistic tests on the gun are underway.
Police arrested 32-year- old Norman Marquarus Bonds in connection with the murder of 43-year-old Harold T. Detter in Temple Hills, Md. He has been charged with first-degree murder. Police are still developing a motive in the case.
Police were called for shots fired at the station at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say a black man in his 40s was found shot in the face in a bus bay at the station. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Wednesday morning, police reported that they had located the suspect. Police K-9 unit, ground patrols and a helicopter were used to search for the suspect who fled through the station after the shooting. The suspect on Tuesday night was described as a black male in his 20s, about 5-foot-8, 220 lbs., with a full beard, wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans.
After the shooting the Metro station was closed, with shuttle service running between Congress Hts and Naylor Rd.
