Students at Patterson Elementary School learning with touch-screen tutors.
WASHINGTON (WUSA) -- Learning to read by using an iPod-touch ?
That's just one of
the ways first graders are getting individual instruction at Patterson
Elementary in Washington DC.
The little ones in Ms. Dominquez's class get
have a program they use called Teacher mate. Students read aloud with a
digital story book on the i-Pod, it records their voice and plays it back to
them to check how they are doing.
In addition to the technology, they get one on one time with
their teacher, and teacher mate also includes volunteers from around the
country who Skype into the classroom to give one on one instruction to the
students as well.
A bunch of fortune 500 companies are giving time
to their employees to do it.
It's a creative solution to the
age old problem of the class size being to large.
Kids are getting the extra
help they need to excel quickly, Pretty Cool huh?!
