Police officers smell alcohol on his breath, then they made him perform a field sobriety test. Meriweather failed the test, police said.
Meriweather refused a breathalyzer test, then was taken into custody, according to police.
In March, Meriweather signed a $6 million, 2-year contract with the Redskins.
