ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) -- The U.S. Naval Academy has reported some minor damage from Tuesday's earthquake.
The academy said Thursday that none of the damage is affecting student routine.
Damage includes superficial cracks in the exterior of 8th wing of Bancroft Hall, the midshipmen's dormitory. Air conditioning was temporarily unavailable in Alumni Hall. Assessors reported cosmetic cracks in the east side granite.
MacDonough Hall has large cracks with brick falling from the arch in the weight room. As a result the third floor of the hall has been closed for further repairs.
Structural issues were initially reported at the Commissary and Navy Exchange, but the building was found to be structurally sound.
At the time of the earthquake, the academy temporarily evacuated buildings. But classes resumed soon after. There were no injuries.
