ARLINGTON, Va. (WUSA) -- Jim Norvelle with Dominion Power said a squirrel tripped a number of circuit breakers at a substation, causing power outage in Arlington Wednesday evening. Norvelle said it happened just after 5 p.m.
Norvelle said that approximately 8,000 customers were without power in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor. Street lights were also out.
Dominion Power originally estimated power would be restored between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. but Norvelle said it may take just another hour.
At 7:30 p.m., Dominion Power's numbers showed only 63 of its customers without power in Northern Virginia.
