FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA) -- More than 100 cats were removed from a home in Annandale, Va. Friday, Fairfax County Animal Control Supervisor Mary Zambrano tells 9NEWS NOW.

Fairfax Animal Control Officers removed 114 cats from a home in the 7100 block of Valley Drive.

Two people live in the home and Zambrano says one of the residents of the home said it is an animal rescue home called Kitty Care Givers.

Zambrano says living condtions in the home were poor and air quality in the home was very poor. She says 45 percent of the animals taken from the home were sick. The sick cats were all suffering from upper respiratory infections.

The 114 cats were loaded into two special disaster trailers and were taken to a veterinary clinic. The trailers are designed to allow the animals to be quarantined while they're being treated at the clinic.

The owners of the home were served with an unfit owner citation and criminal charges are pending.

The house has been condemned by Code enforcement officials.
