Vigils, funeral planned for Muslim teen killed in Va.

STERLING, VA. (WUSA9) - Family and friends are preparing to say goodbye to 17-year-old Nabra Hassanen, who was killed Sunday in what police are calling a road rage incident.

A vigil for Nabra is planned for 7:30 p.m. in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington DC on Tuesday. Another vigil is also planned in her hometown of Reston, Va. Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

Her funeral is planned for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS) in Sterling, Va.

The Muslim teen's death has gone viral on social media as people call for her murder to be investigated as a hate crime. Vigils are being held in her honor across the country this week.

An autopsy revealed Nabra had blunt force trauma to her upper body.

Police later identified the suspect in Nabra's murder as Darwin Martinez Torres, 22, also of Sterling.
