Md. teacher's aide charged with assault of student

STERLING, Va. (WUSA9) -- - A teacher's aide with Loudoun County Public Schools has been charged with assault and battery of a student, say Loudoun County authorities.

Friday, 65-year-old Leopoldo A. Cabrales of South Riding was charged with the misdemeanor after a 12-year-old student at Sterling Middle School received minor injuries on March 27th, according to sheriff's office authorities.

Authorities say the Loudoun County Child Protective Services handled the case before the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division was notified.

Cabrales was released by a Loudoun County magistrate on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
