SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- A child was taken to the hospital after sledding on a hill near Takoma Park Middle School, police said.

Sledding Tips:

Our recommendations are to dress for the weather whenever you're going to go sledding and make sure you go down not too steep of a hill that has a long flat surface at the end so you can slide to a stop.

Also make sure you sled during the day when the visibility is best and avoid any obstacles at the bottom of the hill like fences, trees, cars or ponds or any type of hazard that's going to obstruct your ability to stop safely.
