Report: Two Montgomery Co. men killed in plane crash

A small plane crash in Pennsylvania killed two Maryland men Friday night.

Two Montgomery County men died Friday afternoon after the small plane they were traveling in crashed shortly after takeoff in Southwestern Pennsylvania, according to a local media report.

Terry Carlson of Kensington and Jason Williams of Silver Spring were killed after the plane Carlson was piloting crashed, according to WTAE. Carlson's son, Erik Carlson, was flown to a nearby hospital with severe burns, WTAE reports.

Investigators tell WTAE that one of the doors of their Beechcraft BE36 aircraft became unhinged shortly after takeoff and hit the plane's wing.

The crash happened about half a mile from the Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Farmington, Penn., according to the FAA.

The National Transit Safety Board is investigating the accident.
