Md. suspect sought in two bank robberies

SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) -- Montgomery County Police Department is looking for a suspect who is believed to have been involved in two bank robberies that happened on April 28 and Thursday in Md.

Police said the first bank robbery happened on April 28 at a Capital One Bank in Wheaton, Md. and the second robbery was at the SunTrust Bank in Silver Spring on Thursday.

According to authorities, deputies responded to the Capital One Bank located at 11241 Georgia Avenue for a bank robbery on April 28, at 1:02 p.m.

The suspect went into the bank, went up to the teller, and passed a note demanding money, police said. He claimed to have a weapon, however a weapon was never seen. The suspect got the money and fled from the bank.

Thursday morning at 11:53 a.m. deputies responded to the SunTrust Bank located inside of the Safeway at 13814 Outlet Drive. Police said again the suspect entered the bank, passed a note, claiming he had a weapon and demanded cash. The teller hesitated, so the suspect took the note back and fled from the bank. Authorities said, he did not get any money.

Police believe the same suspect is responsible for both bank robberies.
