Md. serial gas station robber sought

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (WUSA9) -- Detectives continue to investigate three gas station robberies that happened in August of 2013 and that are believed to have been done by the same person.

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Division said Wednesday they have been able to enhance the quality of the surveillance photos of the individual.

Authorities said the suspect went into the Shell gas station located at 9510 Georgia Avenue in Silver spring around 6:57 p.m. on August 23, 2013. The robber showed a handgun and demanded money and cigarettes, authorities added. He then fled the station.

Three days later, on August 26, around 8:30 p.m. a suspect went into the Sunoco gas station located at 12040 Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring and showed a handgun. Authorities said he demanded money and cigarettes. After he got the items he fled the gas station.

Two days later, on August 28, at 8:30 p.m. a suspect went into the Shell gas station located at 11150 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring with a handgun. Authorities said he stole money and cigarettes.

Based on the surveillance photos, investigators believe the robberies were committed by the same person. Investigators also believe it was done by the same person because of the similar actions.

Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime. Tipsters will remain anonymous.
