Man arrested for sexual assault while impersonating cop

SILVER SPRING, Md. (WUSA9) – A Silver Spring man was arrested Friday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman while impersonating a police officer.

Nicholas Morales-Macedo of the 9400 block of Thornhill Road in Silver Spring was charged two counts of second degree sex offense after he reportedly said he would arrest the woman if she did not perform sexual acts on him.

According to Montgomery County police, Morales-Macedo met his 44-year-old victim at the Days Inn in Silver Spring on January 15, 2012. The two had previously met online.

The victim told police that Morales-Macedo entered the hotel room she was in, displayed a silver badge and said he was a police officer. She then said Morales handcuffed her and told her she would not be arrested if she performed sexual acts on him.

After sexually assaulting the victim, Morales-Macedo then allegedly took down her identifying information on a piece of paper and left.

DNA evidence was collected at the scene and entered into a national database. Police say it wasn't until June 12, 2015 that they learned Morales-Macedo was as a match.

Morales-Macedo is being held without bond. The charges pertaining to impersonating a police officer are pending.
