Shots fired at apartments narrowly misses family

Four shootings in 5 hours, that left cars riddled with bullets.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Metro Police is investigating four separate shootings from Thursday night and early Friday morning that left cars and homes riddled with bullets.

A young mother said she and her four children are grateful to be alive after 16 bullets were fired into their home.

The first shooting happened around 8 p.m. Police responded to 3058 Stanton Road for the report of the sound of gunshots. At least one bullet pierced a window. Around 10:36 p.m, Police say on 3072 Stanton Road, 10 vehicles were damaged and police found 50 shell casings.

One minute later on Naylor Road, a young mother and her four children ages 15, 14, 5 and 4 were home when 16 bullets were fired into their home.

“It’s senseless, it’s senseless. God had a shield over us,” said the mother.

She was asleep on the couch when the shooting happened. She then ducked and ran to the back bedroom where her four children were sleeping.

No one was harmed on Naylor Road or during any of the shootings. Metro Police are not saying whether any of the shootings are related.
