Shots fired at apartments and cars in SE, DC

Police are investigating several shootings in Southeast, D.C.

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - Police are investigating four separate shootings overnight in Southeast DC where apartments and cars were targeted.

The most recent report came in around 1:11 a.m. for the 3400 block of 12th St. Police found shell casings in the parking lot of that scene.

Prior to that, officers responded to another report of gunshots 10:37 p.m., Thursday night, on the 2500 block of Naylor Road. ANC Commissioner Paul Trantham was at the scene shortly after the shooting occurred. He said a woman was asleep inside of an apartment building when multiple rounds of gunfire flew through her window.

Trantham said neither the woman nor her four children were hurt.

"She said she just woke up and saw the ceiling smoking," he said.

Police also traveled to one apartment complex, on the 3000 block of Stanton Road, for two separate shootings. The Metropolitan Police Department said it discovered 10 cars had been shot when it was called to the complex at 10:36 p.m. Authorities tell WUSA9 that 50 shell casings were also found at the scene.

Then, at 8:08 p.m., at least one bullet tore through the window of another apartment building.

Police have not determined as to whether the cases are linked.
