Sex offender arrested after teen reported missing in Va.

FAIRFAX, Va. (WUSA9) -- Saturday, City of Fairfax police arrested a registered sex offender after a report that he was with a 16-year-old girl from Stafford County.

According to police, the Stafford County's Sheriff's Office had notified them that the teen was missing from their county and might be in Fairfax with a man.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., Fairfax police officers went to a home in the 10300 block of Layton Hall Drive and found the teen, who they took into protective custody.

Police say registered sex offender Paul Tamney, 51, was taken into custody. He was then transported to the Adult Detention Center where he was served with a Stafford County warrant for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and also charged by City of Fairfax Police with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Tamney was ordered held without bond.
