Man dies after DC store robbery, beating

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- DC police need your help finding two armed robbers they caught on surveillance tape, who are also wanted for homicide.

James Oh, 76, of Rockville, Md., was killed after suffering a severe head trauma in the robbery and another person was injured, police said.

It happened at around 5:03 p.m. on July 4, at the 5500 Block of Colorado Avenue, NW, when the two men came into the store and forced their way behind the counter, the video shows. The men took money from from the register and pushed a person onto the ground, after a struggle, the video shows.

"Upon arrival, they located an adult male semi-conscious and suffering from head trauma. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The decedent was subsequently transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for the District of Columbia where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death," police said.

DC police say the two men left the scene in a black Jeep Cherokee with DC tag number "DP 6033."

One man was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and the other was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. They were both wearing masks, police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone who can identify these individuals, has information regarding the stolen Jeep or who has knowledge of this incident is asked to call the police at (202) 727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the Department's TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
