FBI agent convicted of assault on teen caught on video

An FBI agent was found guilty of second degree assault on a teenager after a cell phone video recorded his role in a family dispute.

ROCKVILLE, Md. (WUSA9) -- An FBI Special Agent was found guilty Friday of second-degree assault of a then 15-year-old after an incident caught on video last December, according to the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office.

Gerald John Rogero, 45, was found guilty of second-degree assault and officials say he was acquitted first-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.

In the video, Rogero confronts the estranged husband of his friend about his late arrival for a child hand-off. Then, the teenager asks Regero why he is even becoming involved.

Next, the video shows Rogero shoving the teenager and moving to take him into custody before identifying himself as a federal agent. He is then seen pulling a gun on the teen.

The teen's mother tries to help, but the video shows Rogero threatening charges against her too.

Rogero was indicted on three counts of first-degree assault, second-degree assault and use of a handgun in the commission of a felony.

Official say Rogero exhibited shortness of breath immediately after the guilty verdict was read. He was transported to a local hospital.

He will be sentenced on Jan. 20, 2016, officials said.
