Redskins partnering with Uber to help get fans home safely

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- The Washington Redskins are partnering with Uber to help improve the game day experience and get fans home safely.

The Redskins announced the partnership with Uber on Friday. As of September 18 there will be a designated Uber pick-up and drop-off zone for all home games.

The hope is that Uber will improve the experience and help get fans in and out of games faster.

“Under this formal partnership, Uber is excited to become a part of the great Washington football tradition,” said Tom Hayes, General Manager, Uber D.C.

"Leveraging the convenience and reliability of Uber’s technology, we’ll be giving fans easily accessible transportation options before and after every game."

The pick-up and drop-off zone is a lot located at Prince George's County Sports Complex, adjacent to the stadium's parking lots. The zone will open four hours before kickoff.

Fans should use the following address to get to the stadium:  Prince George’s County Sports & Learning Complex 8001 Sheriff Rd. Hyattsville Md. 20785.

Uber rides will only be able to get picked up in the pick-up, drop-off zone.

“Continuing to improve the game day experience is paramount and we see Uber’s ride-sharing service playing an important role with us,” said Terry Bateman, Executive Vice President, Washington Redskins.

“We are excited to partner together to better serve our fans.”

Uber’s ride-sharing functionality will be integrated into the official mobile app of the Washington Redskins, available in Apple’s App Store and Google Play. To download the Redskins mobile app go to
