Rain and wind knock down numerous trees in region

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Strong rain and winds helped knock down numerous trees in the Washington, D.C. area on Tuesday.

A large tree fell atop two vehicles in Georgetown, in the 3100 block of O Street NW. A similar incident occurred in the area of 29th St. and Woodley Road, NW.

Earlier, a tree fell on a house in Kensington, Md., and knocked power lines down as well. Montgomery County fire and rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said no one was injured.

Tuesday morning, a number of people were rescued from a house after a large tree fell on it in Silver Spring.
