Craig Robinson Talks About New Film 'Peeples' And Co-Stars

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- Actor Craig Robinson appeared ont he WUSA 9 Morning Show on April 26. You may remember him from "Hot Tub Time Machine" or Darryl from"The Office."

Andrea Roane asked Robinson whether people recognized him while he was walking down the street or not. He told us, "A lot of people go, sometimes'Darryl!' and sometimesI see somebody grab their phone and go, 'are you Craig Robinson?' They're Googling it."

The D.C. native talked about his new movie with Kerry Washington called "Peeples." Robinson plays Wade Walker, who crashes the Peeples annual reunion in the Hamptons to ask for their daughter Grace's hand in marriage. Grace is played by Washington.

Robinson says he thinks people can relate to the movie: "It's a human thing, something everybody goes through.I think the actual - the tone of the movie, the message is to be yourself."

When asked if it was hard to be himself with this cast, and his thoughts on Kerry Washington he said she was "Amazing, brilliant, gorgeous."

He washappy to hear his co-star was People'sthird sexiest woman. "That's amazing. Well, she deserves all the accolades she's getting. No wonder where she is where she is."

Robinson says theentirePeeples cast "had a blast," coming together to play and thateverybody was on the same page.

Tyler Perry produced the film. Robinson told us, "He uses his shine to lift us up."

Robinson is called "the hardest working man in Hollywood" withthe Office" is wrapping up and four filmsreleased this year. On June 12 "This Is The End" comes out, and itfeaturesRihanna. According to Robinson, "She's as sweet as they come. She comes in, gives you a hug. She's awesome."

Not the diva? "No, no. She was so cool," insisted Robinson.

Robinson has a master's degree in education. What was the break that gothim from the classroom to the stage?

He told us, "In college I knewI wanted to be a comedian. SoI started taking steps, open mikes and all this. WhileI was teaching and going to school to get my master's,I would go at night to hit the stages. And then after three and a half, four years of teaching,I made the move to Los Angeles. AndI was just doing comedy full-time."
