Va. police investigate drowning of infant girl

WOODBRIDGE, Va. (WUSA9) -- Police in Prince William County are investigating the drowning death of a 20-month-old girl.

Officers responded to a residence on Ohio Avenue in Woodbridge Tuesday, where family members reported to police that the victim was found unresponsive in the home's pool.

The infant was pulled from the water and CPR was initiated before being transported to an area hospital where she died, police said.

Police say the child's family lost track of the girl and believed she was inside the home. Upon checking the home and outside area, the girl was discovered in the pool.
