Police: Burglary suspect ran through glass door

DUMFRIES, Va. (WUSA9) – Prince William County police have arrested a man who they say ran through a sliding glass door while trying to escape after a burglary.

Mike Lewis Watson, 28, has been charged with burglary, attempted burglary, destruction of property, and possession of a schedule I or II narcotic.

On April 14 around 5:30 a.m., police responded to a home in the 16100 block of Taconic Circle in Dumfries to investigate a burlgary in progress.

Upon arrival, police say they located a man standing on top of a fence a few homes away. The suspect jumped from the fence, ran through the backyard, and smashed through the rear sliding glass door to the residence, according to police.

Once inside, police say the man ran through the residence and smashed through a front window of the home before fleeing on foot.

Multiple officers searched the area and located Watson, who they say matched the suspect description. Police say Watson sustained minor injuries as a result of breaking through the glass door and window.

No property was reported missing from either home.

Watson was also found to be in possession of suspected narcotics at the time of his arrest, according to police. He is being held without bond.
