Police: Woman tried to kill husband in van crash

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WUSA9) -- A woman is charged with attempted homicide after police say she was seen driving her van down a street the wrong way, hitting a man on the side of the road and then assaulting him on the ground.

According to Fredericksburg police, A Virginia State Trooper stopped and intervened when he saw a woman standing over a man on the ground and kicking him repeatedly in the 500 block Dixon St. at 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The trooper notified city police and officers responded to Dixon Street at the bottom of the westbound ramp from the Blue Grey Parkway.

Police say witnesses who were traveling in a vehicle on Dixon Street reported that they saw a van traveling the wrong way on Dixon Street and crashing into the guard rail. They then saw a man crawl out from under the van. The driver of the van then got out and started kicking the man on the ground.

Police later determined that the man was walking along roadway when he was struck and run over by his wife, who was following him in the van.

The man was transported to Mary Washington Hospital by ambulance with multiple injuries.

The woman, 21-year-old Quaneisha Domonique Torres of Fredericksburg was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree homicide. She is being held without bond.
