Police: Woman threw steak knife at deputy

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md. (WUSA9) -- The Calvert County Sheriff's Office has arrested a woman who they say threw a steak knife at a deputy.

On June 10, DFC E. Bradley responded to the area of Md. Rt. 4 north and Commerce Lane to check on the welfare of a woman sitting on the guardrail.

Officials say that the woman, identified as 66-year-old Linda Louise Grimes, picked up her purse and started to walk away when the deputy pulled to a stop.

As Bradley made contact with Grimes, we're told she pulled a steak knife from her purse, waved it towards the deputy and lunged at him.

Bradley drew his weapon and told her to drop the knife, which she then threw at him.

Grimes was taken into custody and charged with attempted first degree assault, second degree assault and reckless endangerment.
