Police: Victim stops would-be robber by throwing chair

MANASSAS, Va. (WUSA9) -- An employee scared off a would-be robber by throwing at chair in Manassas, say Prince William County Police.

The attempted robbery happened on Tuesday at 9:05 p.m. at the Yorkshire Service Center located at 7522 Centreville Rd.

According to police, a man entered the business, approached the counter, and demanded money. He then put out his hand, which was covered with a pillow case, to imply he had a weapon.

Police say the victim decided to throw a chair at the man. The man then ran out of the store without any money.

A police K-9 was used to search for the suspect but police have not found him.

The attempted robber is described as a White male, between 16 & 19 years old, 5'7", 160 pounds with a thin build. Police say he was last seen wearing a camouflage jacket, a gray hooded sweatshirt, light colored pants, black shoes and something black covering on his face.
