Police take down two drug gangs

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (WUSA9) -- On Tuesday, officials announced the indictments of nine Annapolis heroin dealers.

Police said the multi-agency drug initiative worked on more than seven months and it involved undercover police officers making controlled purchases from the drug dealers. Officials made over 50 controlled purchases of heroin, with over 100 grams of heroin seized.

Police believe the indictments, resulting from these buys, will disrupt the illegal drug trafficking groups in Annapolis.

Officials have identified the following people who have been indicted:

  • Kelly Bowers, 24, of Annapolis
  • Richard Naylor, 21, of Arnold
  • Rishard Naylor, 22, of Annapolis.
  • Sadie Phillips, 19, of Annapolis
  • Adrian Williams, 27, of Annapolis
  • Four others were indicted. Their names have not been released yet.

In addition, two 17-year-old's were charged in this initiative. One other juvenile will also be charged in this initiative, police said.

In the first five months of 2014, the Annapolis Police Department's has made 130 arrests for possession of heroin, cocaine, and opiates, compared to 81 arrests during the same months in 2013. While this initiative was occurring Annapolis Police officers arrested a total of 510 people charging them with drug related offenses.
