Police: Man stabs sister, mother using screwdriver

LOTHIAN, Md. (WUSA) -- A man has been arrested and charged after he allegedly stabbed his sister and mother using a screwdriver, police said.

Michael Idemudia, 27 was charged with 'Attempted Murder, First Degree Assault and Second Degree Assault', police said.

The incident started around 9:39 a.m. on Tuesday at a unit located on the block of Patuxent Mobile Estates. Idemudia had started stabbing his 20-year-old sister in an unprovoked assault using a screwdriver. When his 54-year-old mother tried to intervene, he stabbed her as well. That's when the sister ran out of the home and called for help, police said.

Idemudia eventually came out of the home was seen trying to hide the screwdriver under a storage shed. Neighbors surrounded him and kept him from going back into the home, officials said.

The mother and sister were taken to the hospital after they were found suffering from multiple stab wounds, officials said. Both victims appear to have non-life threatening injuries and are in stable condition.

Police are investigating the incident
